Official Safety & Maintenance Guidelines
Official Safety & Maintenance Guidelines
1. Power Supply Unit (PSU) – SHOCK HAZARD
-
Lethal Voltage: The PSU contains high-capacity capacitors that hold a lethal electrical charge even when the PC is unplugged.
-
Universal No-Open Policy: All Manik and Apex PSUs are closed-unit systems. Never attempt to disassemble, unscrew, or remove the PSU housing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
-
Tamper Warning: Breaking the factory seal or opening the PSU casing constitutes "improper use," voids your warranty, and poses a severe risk of death or injury.
-
Hardware Identification: If your unit is missing a physical specification label or sticker, do not guess the wattage or rail limits. You must verify your hardware via your digital invoice or by contacting Apex Support before making any hardware changes.
-
Proprietary Cable Warning: Use only the cables included specifically for your Manik or Apex PSU. Using incorrect or third-party modular cables runs the risk of catastrophic failure.
2. Tempered Glass – HANDLING HAZARD
-
Fragile Material: Many Apex systems use tempered glass panels. These can shatter if struck or placed on hard surfaces (like tile or granite).
-
Safe Handling: Always remove glass panels on a soft, flat surface (like a desk mat). If glass shatters, do not handle shards with bare hands.
3. Physical Weight – LIFTING HAZARD
-
Heavy Equipment: High-performance gaming PCs can exceed 40 lbs.
-
Proper Technique: Always lift with your legs, not your back. For large-format towers, we recommend a two-person lift to prevent injury or accidental drops.
4. Electrical Safety & Grounding
-
Surge Protection: Always connect your PC to a high-quality surge protector or UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). Damage from power surges is not covered under warranty.
-
Grounding: Only plug the system into a properly grounded 3-prong outlet. Do not use 2-prong adapters or "cheater" plugs.
-
AC Cord Safety: Use only the AC power cord provided with your unit, as it is rated for your specific PSU’s current draw.
5. Environmental Requirements
-
Surface Safety: Never operate the PC on high-pile or thick carpet. This blocks critical PSU intake, traps heat, and creates a significant fire hazard.
-
Airflow Clearance: Maintain at least 6 inches of clearance around all fan intakes and exhausts. Do not operate the PC inside unventilated cabinets.
-
Heat Proximity: Do not place the system directly adjacent to or above heat-producing items like radiators, space heaters, or other high-thermal equipment.
-
Fan Orientation: For maximum reliability, it is recommended to install the PSU with the fan facing down. If your setup lacks bottom ventilation, install with the fan facing up.
6. Internal Components & Upgrades
-
12V-2X6 Connector Care: Ensure 12V-2X6 cables are fully seated and clicked into both the PSU and GPU. Avoid bending these cables within 35mm of the connector to prevent thermal damage.
-
GPU Power Ratios: For cards requiring 2 or more power connections, we recommend using one dedicated PCIe cable per connector rather than "daisy-chaining" cables.
-
Unauthorized Mods: Modifications such as "delidding" CPUs or "shunting" GPUs pose significant thermal risks and void all Apex Gaming PCs warranties.
Critical Fire Prevention Rules
-
The "Six-Inch" Rule: Maintain at least 6 inches of clearance around all vent holes. Never place the PC on a rug or carpet, as this chokes the Power Supply (PSU) and can lead to overheating.
-
The Dust Hazard: Dust is not just an insulator; in high concentrations, it can become a fuel source for a spark. Use canned air to clear the PSU and CPU heatsinks every 6 months.
-
Surge Protectors & Fire: A surge protector isn't just for the PC's health—it's to prevent a voltage spike from melting the insulation on your power cables.
-
Warning Signs: If you smell "ozone," burning plastic, or hear a fan stop spinning, power down the unit immediately and unplug it from the wall.
